The fitness industry tends to represent unrealistic body standards. This can lead to body dysmorphia which can also result in the use of anabolic steroids to achieve the type of physique they view on the internet.
The use of steroids then causes for their health to decline thus neglecting the initial reasoning for training which is health and wellbeing.
NMNE is brand created out of satire so with this campaign appearing as something that’s outrageous it represents the unrealistic standards that are portrayed in the media and how it negatively effects the audiences viewing this content.
Process:
With this project I begun researching gym and fitness culture. It was found body dysmorphia was common issue that the community was facing. So, I decided to make a brand out of satire I proceeded to looking into gym logo’s and sketching rough concepts. Once the favoured concepts were selected the project was then completed on Adobe Illustrator and brand style presentation completed on Adobe Indesign.
The needles represented steroids that the fitness brand sells, and the dumbbells help reaffirm as a fitness brand. The imagery used was to give the theme of a mutated human being that has been natural created as that’s what steroids are an unnatural enhancement. The colour red was used to represent blood and danger which are two common things that are correlated with steroids.
